Android application development for beginners

Steps to create your own Android application

If you are reading this tutorial, it means that you are probably new to Android application development services. Don’t worry, we will divide this tutorial into different parts to make it easier for you. The guide offers easy and useful information about the development of Android applications for beginners. Let’s start by following these steps:

Before you begin, there are three important things to know, such as:

The Android operating system is created using Java, so knowledge about Java is always a benefit if you want to develop an Android application.

Next, you will need to obtain Android SDK, which is the basic writing program for Android applications such as Android Studio or Eclipse, the Java Software Development Kit (JDK). The integrated features of Android SDK provide the necessary foundation to create some excellent mobile applications and provide a great opportunity for developers and entrepreneurs.

Now, everything is ready to start!

Step 1: Start with Android Studio

The most common IDE for Android development is Android Studio, which comes directly from Google. The amazing thing about Android Studio is that it is designed specifically for Android application development services.

Step 2: install Java development kit (JDK)

After the installation of Android Studio, it’s time for a more positive action! You also need to install Java on your machine to use Android Studio. The JDK can interpret and compile its code for application development.

Step 3: Start your project

Choose the option ‘Start a new Android Studio project’. Enter the name you want for your application and your ‘company domain’. All these elements will be used to create the name of your package in a format such as:

com.companyname.appname

This APK (‘Android package file’) that you will eventually upload to the Google Play Store.

Step 4: Select activity

In addition, you will have the option to choose the way you want the application to be viewed from the beginning. This will be the aspect of your main ‘Activity Module’, which is basically the main page of your application. There are several fields available that you should choose according to the needs of your application, such as templates, title, access to Google maps, full screen activity, blank activity, etc. In my opinion, it is better to go to ‘Basic activity’ to keep things as simple as possible and for all intents and purposes.

Step 5: Select the design

Now, you must choose a design name for the selected activity. This will define where elements such as images and menus will go and what sources you will use. Choose a name for the menu and the title as well. Choose something attractive for the title, as its users will be able to see this at some points.

Step 6: edit the welcome message

Go to the activity_main.xml tab if it is not open. Click and drag the “Hello world!” from the upper left corner of the phone screen to the center of the screen. Then go to the values ??folder and double click on the strings.xml file. In this file, look for the line “Hello, world!” and add “Welcome to my application!”

Step 7: Add button to your activity

In the Palette menu on the left of the screen, look for Button. Click and drag the button to be located below the welcome message. Then, go to properties and look for the field for the text. Change the text from “New button” to “Next page”.

Now go back to your content_main.xml and click on the button. In the right corner, where you have your parameters for the button, you will see an option called ‘onClick’. Click on this and then select ‘onClick’. By doing this, you have told Android Studio that you want to associate the code section with the created button.

Step 8: test your application

Finally, all that remains to be done is to run the application you just made. Simply go to “run” at the top and then select “run application” from the drop-down menu. Follow the steps to start the emulator that runs your application.

I hope the above information will surely help in the development of Android applications for beginners. In addition, there are numerous ways to develop Android applications. With a wealth of information and services at your disposal, you have the opportunity to make your “dream application” a realism!
